Quentin Blake Illustrations to Auction for Charity Fundraiser

Bonhams

Sir Quentin Blake, Cat Lover, signed 'Quentin Blake', pen and ink on paper, 2022

Running until October 9, Four-Legged and Feathered Friends is an online fundraising sale at Bonhams which aims to raise funds for the Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration.

The sale features 68 lots by the illustrator Quentin Blake, a menagerie of cats, dogs, and monsters. Proceeds from the sale will raise funds for the Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration charity which was founded by Quentin Blake in 2002. The charity begins work this month on the restoration of the New River Head site in Clerkenwell, London, which will provide a home for a 40,000-work archive of Blake's drawings, in addition to hosting regular workshops, exhibitions and events.

"The companionship and interaction between people and their furred or feathered friends is something which Quentin has often explored over the past 15 years," said a spokesperson for the centre. "This collection of illustrations include domestic animals, birds, or fantastical creatures, many with human companions."
