Catawiki Holds Exclusive Auctions Week

Amsterdam — Catawiki is proud to continue our tradition of offering exciting and high quality books and manuscripts in Exclusive auctions.

Today we have launched four attractive auctions that will tempt any discerning bidder.

First, our EXCLUSIVE CARTOGRAPHY auction runs until the 20th May. Included in the highlights are this early Tirion map of Louisiana and New Orleans A lovely pre-revolution map of the city, with delicate hand colouring. The auction is also offering maps of Japan, Israel, New Zealand, several world maps (Such as this fabulous Johann Baptist Homann World Map)  and some exquisite Dutch town plans.

Next, the EXCLUSIVE AUTOGRAPHS & MANUSCRIPTS will also run until the 20th May. This contains 59 interesting documents, including the autographs of Camus, Sartre, Andre Breton , Victor Hugo and Henry Miller.  Particularly noteworthy are this beautiful illuminated manuscript and a scarce letter from Otto Frank (Anne Frank’s father). 
 
Another auction definitely worth checking out is our EXCLUSIVE ART & PHOTOGRAPHY BOOKS auction.  The auction opens with a work by Sol Lewitt & Karel Appel - Noise N°7 This fabulous copy features an original artwork signed by each artist. Very different, are the striking photographs of Brassaï in the seminal work Paris de nuit, here in the original spiral binding. Further works featured are by Matisse, Kees van Dongen and Jean Arp, amongst others. This auction also closes on 20th May

Finally, is the EXCLUSIVE BOOKS auction. Traditionally the more “old and rare” of Catawiki’s book auctions. This ends 2 days later than the others on the 22nd May.  This has a wide range of books on every subject.  My particular favourites are the coloured illustrations in Keller’s Histoire de la mouche commune de nos appartemens and the beautiful reflected sheen of the gilt in this commentary by Valerius Maximus
