Tina and John Bruno Call Time on Flamingo Eventz

Flamingo Eventz

Tina and John Bruno

After 40 years Tina and John Bruno who run Flamingo Eventz organizing and promoting vintage book, paper, and antiques shows in the Northeast U.S. have announced their retirement.

They estimated they have worked on more than 600 shows focusing on antiques and collectivels, vintage books, ephemera, vintage glass, clothing an jewelry, and one vintage doll show, as well as taking part in Rare Book Week in New York City with the The Manhattan Vintage Book, Ephemera, & Fine Press Book Fair, known as The Shadow Show because it is held in conjunction with, and directly across the street from, the New York Antiquarian Book Fair.

"We have pushed the retirement button, sold our last few shows, and bailed out of the show promotion world," they said in a joint statement. "It’s been a wonderful, fun-filled run. We’ve met so many good people, made a lot of good friends, made a few enemies too. The antique show world has never been just work, it’s always been full of opportunities to learn, grow, travel, and enjoy the places and people we meet. It’s been so good that when we decided to get married, we chose to do it in the middle of an antique show!"

The couple added that they are not leaving the antique and vintage world completely. "
We’ll still be out there scouring the shows, kibitzing with the dealers, and hunting for treasures as civilians."
