Chelsea Rare Book Fair Returns

The ABA Chelsea Rare Book Fair will return to Chelsea Old Town Hall on October 31 and November 1.
The fair brings together exhibitors specialising in rare books, first editions, maps, prints, manuscripts and ephemera from all over the world with a wide range of prices.
Highlights include:
- a 19 year run of the French Journal-Manuel de Peintures covering decorative arts, design and architecture from
1850 to 1869 which includes 324 beautiful color printed plates, offered by Paul Foster Books - Alfred Tomer's The Theory and Practice of Lay-Out (1931), offered by Librarie Ormara
- a map of London with evidence of a developing postal and transport system from 1800, offered by Quaritch
- the American issue of the 1939 Michelin Guide, produced by Military Intelligence for the D-Day Landings, offered by Tom W. Ayling
- the 1925 first edition of La Cuisine Chinoise the first French work on Chinese gastronomy by Henri Lecourt, one of 500, offered by Shapero Rare Books
Events at the fair include:
- Collecting Medieval Manuscripts with Sienna Wells of Tom W. Ayling Rare Books (November 1 at 1pm)
- Looking After Your Books book signing with author Francesca Galligan, Deputy Head of Rare Books at the Bodleian Libraries, University of Oxford (November 1, 2pm-4pm)
- Who Owned Your Books and Why it Matters (November 1, 3pm) with Christian White of Christian White Rare Books
