Tropic Bound International Biennial Artists' Book Fair Returns to Miami

The Miami Design District will again host the Tropic Bound: International Biennial Artists' Book Fair next week following its succesful debut in 2023.
Running Februay 6-9 in rooftop venues at Paradise Plaza and Palm Court Plaza, Tropic Bound celebrates the world of artists' books, showcasing unique, handmade creations, and offering the opportunity for artists and publishers to exhibit, sell and exchange artists’ books.
More than 90 exhibitors from a dozen countries with over 725 artist works will be at the show. Stephanie Stillo, Chief of Rare Book and Special Collections at the U.S. Library of Congress, will deliver the keynote address at the Symposium, Beyond the Build: Integrating Art into Special Collections.
New this year is the Addendum section at Palm Court Plaza which will focus on the overlap between independent publishers, art books and visual culture. Other highlights include panel discussion, artist talks, shuttle tours, and artists and publishers in conversation including:
- The Invisibility of Artists' Books in Museums with American artist and educator Rachel Simmons who makes artist’s books, zines and prints, and teaches book arts and printmaking at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida
- Paper and Print as Puente: Cross-Border Collaborations between Mexico and the US with Michelle Wilson, Ioulia Akhmadeeva, Anne Beck, and Antonio Guerra Gonzalez
- Smoke & Mirrors: Using Stage Magic in Book Arts with Keri Miki-Lani Schroeder, artist and proprietor of Coyote Bones Press based in San Antonio, Texas, who creates limited-edition artists’ books, teaches workshops, and hosts Books in the Wild Podcast
- tours of the Miami Paper & Printing Museum, Special Collections at University of Miami, and The Wolfsonian-FIU, museum, library and research center
- Beyond the Binding: How Artists’ Books are Made Today panel discussion with Emily Martin, Stephen Pittelkow, Sol Rébora, and Mark Sarigianis
