PulpFest 2024 Returns to Pittsburgh: Full Details
The 2024 iteration of PulpFest - the annual celebration of the fiction periodicals named after the cheap pulp paper on which they were printed - runs August 1-4 at DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, Pittsburgh.
Running since 1972, this year's theme is "Spice, Spies, Shaw, and More" and will celebate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Black Mask detective magazine editor Joseph T. Shaw as well as, in the words of the organisers, honoring the genre "by drawing attention to the many ways these throwaway magazines have inspired writers, artists, film directors, software developers, and other creators over the decades.”
This year's PulpFest will also be a celebration of the first book publication of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ The Land That Time Forgot by A. C. McClurg in 1924, and the work of Philip José Farmer.
As always, there will be a wide selection of items from dealers and a range of talks on pulp-related subjects, as well as the annual auction which this year is lead by the substantial collection of enthusiast Charles Danowski who died in August 2023. You can find a full provisional schedule here.
