Pop-Up Narberth Book Tent to Open Aug. 1
NARBERTH, Pa., July 15, 2014—The Press at Toad Hall will open its first retail location this summer in Narberth, Pennsylvania, according to David N. Goodchild, founder and president. The Narberth Book Tent will feature more than 2,000 new editions of classic books, and will be located on Haverford Avenue—next to Ricklin's Hardware store and across from the Narberth train station. The pop-up store will be open August 1 to October 31, 2014, from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., seven days a week.
First and Only
The Book Tent will be the first bookstore to open in Narberth in more than 20 years—and the first bookstore of any kind to open in the area in recent years. It will also be the only independent bookstore between Philadelphia and Conshohocken, and the only one in the region housed in a tent.
Commenting on the store, Mr. Goodchild said, "We are delighted to offer the Narberth community a new alternative to the big-box stores that threaten our nation's retail backbone. And we look forward to introducing our friends and neighbors to affordable hardbound books on topics ranging from Anthropology to Zoology - with hundreds classic fiction and juvenile books in between."
According to Mr. Goodchild, shoppers will also be able to order any book from the Toad Hall's 50,000-title collection for two-day delivery.
Promotions
Throughout its three-month presence, the Narberth Book Tent will give customers a choice of promotional programs:
- Book Bucks: Each customer will receive a "Mr.Toad Book Buck" worth 10 percent of their total purchase, redeemable at any participating Narberth merchant or restaurant.
- Library Donations: For each customer who purchases a book at the Narberth Book Tent, the store will donate one copy of the same book to the school or library of their choice, in the name of a child. One book per child and one child per book.
