JFK Memorabilia Leads Fine Autographs and Artifacts Auction
RR Auction is offering a collection of John F. Kennedy memorabilia this month featuring nearly 800 lots which also includes rare items from George Washington, Samuel Clemens, Marie Antoinette, and Henry VIII.
Highlights of the Kennedy-related material include a 1960 first edition of The Remarkable Kennedys which offers a glimpse into the Kennedy legacy and is signed by 11 family members, including Joseph P. Kennedy, President John F. Kennedy, and his wife Jacqueline, Robert F. Kennedy, and Ted Kennedy. Also included is The Peace Corps Act page signed by JFK. This signed page from the pioneering Peace Corps legislation was presented to Bill Moyers and has been in the possession of the Moyers family since its signing in 1961.
The auction includes rare and uncut teletype reports on President Kennedy's assassination, offering au unfiltered view of one of the day through an original AP teletype roll and Dow Jones ticker tape.
Other auction highlights include:
- a two-page George Washington slavery document detailing transactions involving slaves as collateral
- a 13-page Samuel Clemens handwritten letter written by Clemens to his wife Livy at Christmastime, offering a glimpse into his personal and professional anxieties during a financially tumultuous period
- an Oliver Cromwell autograph letter concerning the marriage of his son during the English Civil War
- a rare collection of handpainted devotional miniatures signed by the daughters of Maria Theresa, including Marie Antoinette, bound in late 19th century calf
- a signed 1514 pay order from Henry VIII for costs incurred during the English occupation of Tournai
- Walt Disney signed Mickey Mouse sketch fom Disney's 1935 European tour
- Albert Einstein typed letter, written on the eve of Nazi Germany's surrender, this shows Einstein's efforts to assist his fellow emigrants during World War II
