The musical arrangement for White Christmas
Scripts from The Bing Crosby Show feature in Sotheby's' Swinging on a Star: The Private Collection of Kathryn and Bing Crosby auction which also includes the singer's musical arrangements, photo albums of golf tournaments, and his hats.
Taking place on 18 December, the sale includes a set of 11 scripts from The Bing Crosby Show, dated December 16, 1962 to September 30, 1964, some with extensive annotations and labelled “Bing Crosby” in pencil or ink (estimate: $2,000-$3,000).
Other Crosby scripts going under the hammer include the first episode of The Hollywood Palace, ca. 1964 ($1,000-$2,000), and a 1967 episode of The Dean Martin Show (estimate: $800-$1,200).
The auction also features Joseph J. Lilley's musical arrangements for the movie White Christmas starring Crosby and inscribed by Lilley (estimate: $3,000-$5,000), and the bound score annotated by Lilley for the Crosby film Mr Music with various production notes plus a photograph of Bing Crosby in recording booth (estimate: $2,000-$3,000).
