Exhibition is a celebration of Charles Dickens the storyteller, and Oliver Twist his most popular tale. This family-friendly exhibition invites you to explore the writer’s home and find the ingredients for a brilliant and memorable Dickensian novel.
Step back in time to 48 Doughty Street in 1837 and observe Dickens at home, as he brings the story of little Oliver into being: struggling to meet deadlines, balancing busy home and work commitments whilst wrestling with disagreements with his publisher. Travel with him through London streets as he pockets rich observations of the city and its inhabitants to fill his next chapter. Observe the writer as he delights in his new novel’s warm reception and squares up to face its critics.
