BAM! — Book Arts Mendocino! — is a series of exhibitions and displays, talks and readings, workshops and demonstrations devoted to the wide ranging and varied arts of the book.
It all started with a feature article in REM magazine about three letterpress printers on the coast, Zida Borcich, Felicia Rice, and Theresa Whitehill. This led to an exhibition of their letterpress work, “Three Letterpress Printers Walk Into a Shed," at the Partners Gallery in January and February. At that point we thought, why not invite those of us who make or publish books on the coast to join us in a celebration of all things BOOK?
BAM! is an uprising of book art, a focus on our lifelong vocations, avocations, metier... during a time when a positive, constructive, cultural perspective is so badly needed.
